WB Mission Visits Armenia

The World Bank mission has paid a visit to Armenia from November 15-24, 2016 for “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness” project implementation completion and evaluation as well as supervision of CARMAC 2 project.

The main objective of the mission is to discuss the results of the CARMAC project completion report with the Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture PIU and other interested parties to include them in the Implementation Completion Report (ICR). The main objective of the mission concerning the CARMAC 2 project is reviewing the performance progress of implementation and target allocations.  The group should also review the implementation progress and the conformity of authorized aspects with the WB safeguard policy, contribute in solving any problem preventing project implementation.

On November 15, 2016 a discussion was organized in the Agriculture PIU in which CARMAC Project Coordinator Arusyak Alaverdyan, CARMAC 2 Project Coordinator Bekzod Shamsiev, Agriculture Senior Economists Patrick Labaste and Quin Leen, Food Safety Consultant Ara Karapetyan, Agriculture PIU SA Deputy Director Armen Vanyan and relevant specialists took part.  

A part of the mission was visiting the communities involved in the Project. On November 16 the WB expert Quin Leen, CARMAC project “Community Pasture/Livestock Management System” Component Coordinator Karen Torosyan, Animal Health Subcomponent Coordinator Sona Tsarukyan and Social Specialist-Consultant Emma Mkrtchyan paid a visit to Artashavan, Hnaberd, Norashen communities of the RA Aragatsotn marz and Arevshat community of the RA Shirak marz.  During the visit the specialists met with the community mayors, cooperative chairmen and members, as well as the accountants. Quin Leen got minutely acquainted with the works implemented in the communities within the project. Due to watering system construction and provision of agricultural machinery, the volumes of livestock products was increased in the communities. Quin Leen praised the importance and efficiency of the project implementation for the communities involved.
