Working meeting

On February 13, 2017 Agriculture PIU Acting Director Gegham Gevorgyan and “Community Pasture/Livestock Management System” component coordinator of the Second Community Agricultural Resource Management an Competitiveness project (CARMAC 2) Karen Torosyan, chief specialist Kamo Khachatryan and other employees had a meeting with Karina Harutyunyan, “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project leader of “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) non-governmental organization, project consultant/expert Gagik Tovmasyan and management specialist/component coordinator Lusine Simonyan.

K. Harutyunyan presented the project they are implementing and mentioned that it’s being funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented in the RA Syunik and Vayots Dzor marzes. A Memorandum of Cooperation Has Been Signed Between the RA Ministry of Agriculture and the Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD) Foundation

Today the RA Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan paid a visit to the agricultural and veterinary service center in Aragatsavan community. 

The Minister had a tour in the center together with the CARD Foundation Director Gagik Sardaryan and Agriculture PIU Acting Director Gegham Gevorgyan, talked to the center employees and veterinarians.

The Minister then visited CARD Foundation and got acquainted with its current works.

After the tour a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the RA Ministry of Agriculture and CARD Foundation. In compliance with the Memorandum a working group is envisaged to be created, which will develop productive mechanisms for improving the vaccination quality of  “Veterinary-Sanitary and Phytosanitary Services Center” SNCO and the services provided, as well as raise awareness of the livestock farms.



Working Meeting

On February 1 this year, Agriculture PIU Acting Director Gegham Gevorgyan had a meeting with GIZ “Integrated biodiversity Management” project Team Leader C. Schulz, consultants A. Danielyan and A. Hayrapetyan. Agriculture PIU employees G. Khachatryan, K. Torosyan, K. Khachatryan and D. Baziyan also participated in the meeting. During the meeting Mr Gevorgyan presented CARMAC 2 project mentioning that one of the most important issues of Component 1 is increasing milk and meat yield and improving pasture management through cooperatives. In order to avoid overgrazing and degradation, correct management of pastures was highlighted. It was also mentioned that such a system and single model should be established which will allow the communities developing their management plans on their own and continuing the works.

Dear colleagues, another year of achievements and challenging ideas is becoming a history. The future now salutes us all to a new year full of expectations, unique projects and efficient cooperation.   

Happy New Year to all of us! Let this year bring us strength, ardor, courage and peaceful mind.  I strongly hope that the coming year will be prolific and our diligence will produce its results.

Working Meeting

Today, Acting Director of the Agriculture PIU Gegham Gevorgyan called a conference with the participation of “Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development” (CARD) Foundation Director Gagik Sardaryan and Veterinary and Livestock breeding division specialists Tigran Gabrielyan and Arman Ohanyan. Sona Tsarukyan from “Animal Health Services” component of CARMAC project implemented by the Agriculture PIU was also participating in the meeting.

Works to be implemented within the CARMAC 2 project, mainly the Veterinary training project, Animal health measures, current veterinary problems and the mechanisms of solving them have been discussed during the meeting. Highlighting the development of veterinary capacities the parties discussed ways of implementing the training project.
