AGRICULTURE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION UNIT (APIU)

“Agriculture Reform Support” Project as a non-profit state institution was established in September 4 1997 by Order N 320 of the RA Ministry of Agriculture. In July 27, 1998 it was restructured to "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state close joint company according to joint protocol N 1 of the RA Ministry of Finance and Economics and the RA Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the RA Government Decree N 765, dated December 22 1999, "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state close joint company was dissolved and "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state institution was established.

In 2011 "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state institution was renamed to "Agriculture Project Implementation Unit" state agency according to the RA Government decree N 355.

All financial resources, provided according to the credit agreements signed between the Republic of Armenia and International Development Agency, are being included in the state budget of the RA Government as of years and source of financing.  Different bank accounts are opened for each project financing source. Starting from October 2011 all bank accounts are transferred to the treasury department of the RA Ministry of Finance.

Discussion of Further Steps

“Agriculture PIU” SA Director Gagik Khachatryan held a working meeting at the office the other day with the APIU SA employees, community mayors and cooperative chairmen of Kuchak, Yernjatap and Nor Amanos communities of the RA Aragatsotn marz involved in the Second Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the community problems and their solutions, as well as the works to be implemented. 

Pasture management and livestock development plans for the above mentioned communities including the works to be carried out under the project were prepared with the help of Marz Support Teams and Technical Experts.

Kuchak community has 1100 ha pasture area most of which is not watered. There are approximately 500 ha remote pastures which are not used. 2 stock watering points are necessary to install. Community arable lands are not...[more]

Working Discussion

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the community problems and their solutions, as well as the works to be implemented.  

Pasture management and livestock development plans for the above mentioned communities including the works to be carried out under the project were prepared with the help of Marz Support Teams and Technical Experts.

WB Delegation Visits the RA Lori Marz

On October 4, 2016 the WB delegation with Yerevan Country Manager Laura Bailey, Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project (CARMAC) WB Coordinator  Arusyak Alaverdyan as well as “Agriculture PIU” SA Director Gagik Khachatryan, APIU SA employees Vahan Ghukasyan, Georgi Hovhannisyan and Lori Marz Support Team Coordinator Hakob Kyureghyan visited the RA Lori marz. The first visit was to “Buffalo breeding and dairy production from buffalo milk” production unit. During 2008-2009 the production unit produced more than 2500 kg of Mozarella cheese from buffalo milk, 6400 kg Chanakh cheese from cow milk, 6800 kg yogurt (matsun) from buffalo milk. In 2015 during the project development 3000 kg of Mozarella cheese from buffalo milk, 20000 kg Chanakh cheese from cow milk and 5000 kg yogurt (matsun) from buffalo milk were produced. “Rural Life and Traditions” harvest festival

Annual “Rural Life and Traditions” harvest festival initiated by “Green Lane” non-governmental organization was held on September 24 in English Park of Yerevan. This was the third time the festival has been held, in which more than 100 farmer groups and agricultural entrepreneurs participated.  Head of EU Delegation to Armenia  Piotr Switalski, EU International Aid/Cooperation Officer John Barker, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Armen Harutyunyan, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Davit Ohanyan, “Agriculture PIU” SA Director Gagik Khachatryan and other officials and guests were present at the festival welcoming the participants and attendees and emphasizing the importance of the event.

Public discussion in Mets Parni community of the RA Lori marz

Under the Second Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project (CARMAC 2) a public consultancy with the beneficiaries took place in Mets Parni municipality on constructing a Veterinary service center (VSC).  

The objective of the meeting was to present to the community population the activities of the VSC being constructed in the administrative area of the community, possible environmental and social negative impact during the construction, as well as the mitigation measures.

“Agriculture PIU” SA Engineer Constructor Artush Yeranosyan presented technical issues on VSC construction particularly on launch of civil works, contractor selection, etc.

Animal health subcomponent Coordinator Sona Tsarukyan answered the people’s questions on further exploitation of the VSC, various courses and trainings, goods sold and services provided.
