AGRICULTURE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION UNIT (APIU)

“Agriculture Reform Support” Project as a non-profit state institution was established in September 4 1997 by Order N 320 of the RA Ministry of Agriculture. In July 27, 1998 it was restructured to "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state close joint company according to joint protocol N 1 of the RA Ministry of Finance and Economics and the RA Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the RA Government Decree N 765, dated December 22 1999, "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state close joint company was dissolved and "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state institution was established.

In 2011 "Agricultural Reform Support Project Implementation Unit" state institution was renamed to "Agriculture Project Implementation Unit" state agency according to the RA Government decree N 355.

All financial resources, provided according to the credit agreements signed between the Republic of Armenia and International Development Agency, are being included in the state budget of the RA Government as of years and source of financing.  Different bank accounts are opened for each project financing source. Starting from October 2011 all bank accounts are transferred to the treasury department of the RA Ministry of Finance.

Ignati Arakelyan Presents the Acting Director of the Agriculture Project Implementation Unit State Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture

Today the RA Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan presented Gegham Gevorgyan, Acting Director of the Agriculture PIU SA of the RA MoA to the staff.

The Minister of Agriculture highlighted the importance of the works being implemented by the Agriculture PIU and praised the voluminous work carried out by the former Director Gagik Khachatryan.

The Minister noted that Gegham Gevorgyan is well aware of the works implemented by the World Bank adding that in the near future the most efficient directions of agriculture should be discussed.

WB Mission Visits Armenia

The World Bank mission has paid a visit to Armenia from November 15-24, 2016 for “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness” project implementation completion and evaluation as well as supervision of CARMAC 2 project.

The main objective of the mission is to discuss the results of the CARMAC project completion report with the Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture PIU and other interested parties to include them in the Implementation Completion Report (ICR). The main objective of the mission concerning the CARMAC 2 project is reviewing the performance progress of implementation and target allocations.  The group should also review the implementation progress and the conformity of authorized aspects with the WB safeguard policy, contribute in solving any problem preventing project implementation.

ArmProdExpo 2016 International Specialized Exhibition

On 21-23 October “ArmProdExpo” International Specialized Exhibition was held in “Yerevan EXPO” exhibition complex of Yerevan Computer Research and Development Institute. More than 90 companies from the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic took part in the exhibition. The objective was to present the best products produced in Armenia and the achievements in processing sphere, to evaluate competitiveness of domestic products, expand export opportunities and help domestic producers get directly in touch with foreign commercial organizations. Outside the exhibition complex, open air pavilions were provided for all the RA marz representatives with their products.

RA Minister of Agriculture Pays a Visit to Gegharkunik Marz

RA Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan paid a working visit to Gegharkunik marz. The minister was accompanied by Gegharkunik marz mayor Rafik Grigoryan, MoA Deputy Minister Robert Makaryan, “Agriculture PIU” SA Director Gagik Khachatryan and other officials.

The minister first visited Vardadzor community, where he met with the cooperative members and got acquainted to the works being implemented. The last batch of agricultural machinery (4 tractors, seed drill, baling machine, plough etc.) under the “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness” (CARMAC) project were provided to the community this fall, which significantly facilitated agricultural works in the community.   

Minister then visited Vardenis, where he met with potato growers who the other week blocked the Vardenis-Karvachar highway protesting against the low prices at which intermediaries purchased potato...[more]

French Development Agency Delegation Visits the “Agriculture PIU”

Today, the delegation of French Development Agency, headed by Vache Papazyan, met with “Agriculture PIU” SA Director Gagik Khachatryan. The objective of the meeting was to find ways of cooperating within the frames of the “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness” (CARMAC) project implemented by the “Agriculture PIU” SA and a number of agriculture and irrigation projects to be implemented in Armenia by the French Development Agency.

During the meeting the guests got acquainted to the CARMAC project objectives, issues and works to be implemented also presenting the project provisions they have developed.

“Agriculture PIU” SA Deputy Director Armen Vanyan and Monitoring Specialist Irena Arustamyan were also present at the meeting.
