Introductory Meeting in Lernanist Community of RA Kotayk Marz

An Introductory Project Meeting was held by the APIU SA Director G. Khachatryan and APIU SA employees on the Project main concept, approaches and procedures in order to involve Lernanist community of Kotayk marz in CARMAC 2nd project.   Head of Agricultural and Environmental Department of Kotayk Governor’s Office M. Yeghiazaryan, Lernanist Community Mayor A. Hayrapetyan, APIU SA Community Pasture and Livestock Management System (CPLMS) Component Coordinator K. Torosyan,  APIU SA Social Specialist E. APIU SA representatives carried out the introductory Project meeting on Project concept, approaches and procedures for the community population for the involvement of Solak Community of Kotayk Marz in CARMAC Project II. Meeting with the RA Minister of Agriculture

Today the mission members in Armenia with a view to supervise “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project” and to launch “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Second Project” were received by the RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan. APIU director Gagik Khachatryan and the head of the RA MoA State Service for Food Safety Armen Hayrapetyan were also present at the meeting. The subject of the discussion was the experience gained and the success reached so far within the CARMAC project currently in implementation process, as well as its role in the future development of the agriculture in the republic. Discussion of social issues under CARMAC and CARMAC II Projects

Today a discussion-meeting on social issues under CARMAC and CARMAC II Projects was held at Agriculture Project Implementation Unit with participation of World Bank specialists, Mission team members and APIU staff. During the discussion works implemented within the framework of CARMAC Project, as well as the results and recommendations of the Social Assessment Report of the CARMAC II Project were presented by APIU Social Specialist. The purpose of the discussion-meeting was to ensure that all responsible specialists are introduced to all social issues related to the project. Facts were raised and suggestions were made by both parties present at the meeting. In the atmosphere of constructive discussion an agreement was reached on mutually acceptable steps and activities, which should be carried out within the framework of the CARMAC II Project to ensure participation of vulnerable groups in the project, disseminate proper information, promote participation of women and youth and...[more]

Visit to the RA Syunik Marz

Under the Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project, World Bank Project Implementation Mission members - David Lugg, Agriculture Specialist, WB Consultant, and Ara Karapetyan, Food Safety Specialist, WB Consultant, made a visit to Vayots Dzor and Syunik marzes. During the field trip they went through 4 grant projects under “Competitive Grant Projects” (CGP) component of the Project, visited the Veterinary Service Centre constructed in Khndzoresk community, RA Syunik marz under the “Animal Health” component, they also visited a slaughterhouse constructed in the scope of “Support for Abbatoir Development in Armenia” FAO-funded project, a cheese processing plant and Marz Agriculture Support Centres. During the visit, the consultants were accompanied by CGP coordinator Vahan Ghukasyan, chief specialist Georgi Hovhannisyan and Animal Health component coordinator Sona Tsarukyan. Visit to the on-going grant projects in the RA Ararat marz

6 grant projects being implemented in the RA Ararat marz under the Project’s Competitive Grants Program component were visited by David Lugg, Bank’s Agriculture Consultant, a member of the World Bank mission team arrived in Armenia for the purpose of supervision of Community Agriculture Resource Management and Competitiveness Project. During the visit the Consultant was accompanied by Vahan Ghukasyan, Component Coordinator, Armen Vanyan, Deputy Director, as well as Irena Arustamyan, Project Monitoring Specialist. The purpose of the visits was to get acquainted with the beneficiaries, be introduced to the implementation process of the grant projects on the spot, make sure if the works completed were in compliance with the design and directed at achieving of the set objectives, if the provided grant was used for its purpose and activities were taken towards implementation of technology/experience by beneficiaries. Opening Ceremony of Veterinary and Agricultural Service Centre in Khndzoresk Community, Syunik Marz

The official opening ceremony of Veterinary and Agricultural Service Centre of Khndzoresk Community, Syunik marz took place on February 11, 2015. Sergo Karapetyan, RA Minister of Agriculture, Surik Khachatryan, Syunik marzpet, representatives from international, local organizations and NGOs, farmers and guests were present at the opening ceremony. The Centre was established by RA Ministry of Agriculture with funding from the World Bank in the framework of Community Agricultural Resources Management and Competitiveness Project. The Veterinary and Agricultural Service Centre offers a wide range of services to farms and farming households in Syunik marz, such as veterinary services, disease prevention and treatment, artificial insemination, sales of veterinary medicinal products, veterinary and livestock equipment and accessories, advisory services and trainings. Public Disclosure on the Social Assessment Draft Report for “Community Agriculture Resource Management and Competitiveness” Credit Project II (CARMACP II)

Public Disclosure on the Social Assessment Report for CARMAC II project took place on November 26, 2014 at “Agricultural Support Republican Centre”, chaired by Mr. G. Khachatryan, Director of Agricultural Project Implementation Unit (APIU) SA of MoA RA. The document was presented by Mr. P. Asatryan, President of “PASV” Research Analytical Centre non-governmental organization. The public disclosure was attended by representatives from interested state organizations, foundations, NGOs, Marz and Community Administrations and other stakeholders that may possibly be affected by the Project. TRAINING ON SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT

On September 3-5 2014, in Gyulaqarak village of Lori region, training on Sustainable Management of Natural Pastures was held by Green Lane Agricultural Assistance NGO within the framework of the Train the Trainers Advisory Project. The training has been attended by support team coordinators from six marzes of Armenia (except for Ararat, Armavir, Kotayk and Vayots Dzor) involved in the project, as well as leaders and members of consumer cooperatives and village headmen. Equipment for veterinarians

“Mobilization of veterinarians” training program is being implemented by the Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD) Foundation which was recognized as the winner of the competition organized according to the requirements of the project.    The duration of the project is 24 months, during which trainings for veterinarians were already conducted on the following topics: artificial insemination, animal health services, including diagnosis, treatment and surgery, pharmacology, dehorning and hoof treatment, reproductive diseases, more spread diseases, reproduction of dairy herd, basic business management and application of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system in the farms, maintenance of industrial and personal hygiene to prevent infectious and zoonosis diseases, etc.   67 veterinarians of the RA 6 marzes participated in the project were given veterinary and artificial insemination equipment required for their...[more]

CARMAC Project: PUBLIC CONSULTATION MEETING

On 03 April 2014, at 11a.m. presentation and discussion of  Environmental Menagement and Monitoring Plan of the foundation of Veterinary service centre in Chambarak community took place in the municipality of Chambarak with participation of stakeholders within the framework of Community Agricultaral Resource Managemant and Competitiveness project.   Meeting was attended by the representatives of Chambarak, as well as Jil, Artanish, Vahan, Shorzha and Dzoravanq communities. Discription of the on-going project and the draft of the above mentioned document were presented during the meeting, after which there was time for questions and answers. CARMAC 2 Project: World Bank Appraisal Mission

World Bank Mission visited Armenia on March 18 – 27, 2014 to conduct appraisal of the works being carried out in the preparatory stage of the second “Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness” credit project. The mission team was comprised of Arusyak Alaverdyan (Operations Office), Darejan Kapanadze (Sr. Environmental Specialist), Sarah Michael (Sr. Social Development Specialist), Josef Ernstberger (Natural Resource Management Specialist) and David Lugg (Agriculture Specialist, Consultant). During the visit work meetings were held with both the Director of PIU and the coordinators of the components of the present project and other specialists.
